Description
Here is a vintage “Town Crier
” bell-shaped cocktail shaker. It stands approximately 11’ tall and 6” across the base. It has a walnut tone wood handle that unscrews from the bell to pour the mix in, and a threaded chrome cap at the top of the handle to pout the drink out of. The small chrome clapper suspended from the strainer in the handle mixes the drink (and alerts you that is coming!). It holds approximately 32 ounces when completely filled.
This novelty shaker was designed and patented by inventor Bruce de Montmorency in 1937, under US Patent no. 2,102,520. See the last photo for a scan of this patent. This one is marked on the bottom "PAT. PEND.", so I believe it is an early version, prior to the patent being issued. The patent was later assigned to the National Silver Deposit Ware Co.
Nice and shiny with no dents or chrome loss and the interior is clean.
