    Description
    1974 Dodge Charger
During the early-1960s, automakers were exploring new ideas in the personal luxury and specialty car segments. Chrysler, fast to enter the specialty car market, selected their Dodge Division to enter the marketplace with a mid-size B-bodied sporty car to fit between the "pony car" Ford Mustang and "personal luxury" Ford Thunderbird. The intention was to create a fastback look while sharing as much existing company hardware as possible. The Coronet-based Charger that resulted was introduced in mid-season of the 1966 model year in retaliation to the Rambler Marlin, Ford Mustang, and Plymouth Barracuda.
For consignment, a 1974 version of the Dodge Charger which has undergone a complete restoration. Several steel panels were replaced, and a fiberglass hood added. Now with a 400ci V8, consigner states with other goodies in this engine it can put out 600hp. New interior buckets, and the "Coke Bottle" sides, welcome to a renewed 1974!
    Exterior
A B body design, this car has new fenders, door skins, rear quarter panels and trunk lid, all replaced and now rust free. A fiberglass hood with a scoop for the extra air gasping from the engine to be satiated. The body panels are bathed in the 1974 Mopar equivalent of Sienna Iridescent. Hood, front spoiler, side view sport mirrors, and rear fin are all painted stain black which goes nicely with the Sienna. A clean rust-free black vinyl top is covering the roof and rear glass, and chromed bumpers and door handles, as well as badging remains chrome and shiny. Interestingly, a chromed border is around the vinyl top, and some sienna has been left to shine through on the edges of the roofline and drip moldings. On all 4 corners are 17-inch American Racing ATX wheels also in black. A menacing look for this long hooded, front grille wrapped in chrome 2 door powerhouse.
    Interior
Featuring new buckets which are wider and offer up more support with larger side bolsters on the seats and backs. There is an adjustable headrest, and these chairs have tuck and roll stitched edge inserts also in black vinyl. The buckets cozy up to a nifty paneled vinyl black door panel upper and black smooth vinyl lower with a central ever widening wood appliqu panel running down the center of each door. Power window toggles are seen along with a mirror joystick and door actuator paddle in front of the black armrest. Doors show some slight wear and have some white spots showing through where the original color has worn off. The dash remains pure 1974 and shows with more wood appliqu for the front panel which is deep under the padded vinyl topper. A gauge cluster is in front of a smaller wood and vinyl 70's contemporary styled steering wheel. Some aftermarket gauges are adding to the information about the vitals when it's running. Said instruments are a driver's right mounted tachometer, and below in front of the center gear shift console, is a trio of aftermarket gauges mounted to the hump. Just in front of these gauges is a ball topped Hurst Promatic2 shifter. Black carpeting floods the floors, and in back an original rear bench with black vinyl and broadcloth purple, blue and orange red with black diamond pattern and tan background inserts are on this bench. Above is a tight black vinyl headliner. A shout to the trunk which now houses the battery and is all bathed in Sienna Iridescent.
    Drivetrain
In a Sienna Iridescent engine bay sits a beautifully proportioned 400ci V8 with headers, and polished parts added to it, along with Mopar Performance back ribbed valve coverings. This engine has aluminum heads, and a single 4-barrel 850cfm Holley carburetor on top of an Edelbrock intake. All shines on this mill including its consigner stated 600hp output. On the back is an A727 Torqueflite transmission in 3-speed automatic format. This pushes all that power to the rear axle through a Dana 60 rear end.
    Undercarriage
The underside of this car has also been the beneficiary of the restoration craze and shows with no rust, nice black painted or undercoated floor pans and unibody framing, and all this is peppered with stainless Pypes exhaust system, shiny coil over shocks and springs, a chromed plate for the Dana 60 pumpkin and the drip free bottom end of the mill. All new brake lines, and wiring are throughout, as well as the brakes which are now power disc Wilwood braking on all corners...Woah! It is looking flossy under here!
    Drive-Ability
This muscle car from 1974 flexes at the turn of a key and off top the test track where it puts a smile on our decoder's muscle car loving pretty face. Plenty of power, neck snapping acceleration, smooth shifting, and nice interior with all functioning...functions! (I love doing that!!). The only frown was the front seat is not adjustable and is set for a shorter stature individual, so if you are of larger height or stature, you may need your wrench.
A fab restoration done on every stone, so none are unturned, this restorer always gets his man, and this car proves it. Beautifully done with a great color combo, extra features in satin black, a big engine, and all looking fab. Hand me my white hat please!
