Description
1939 censored airmail cover from Hamilton, Bermuda to Danbury, CT, USA. Since World War II (WWII) had commenced and since Bermuda was a British territory, it is not surprising that the envelope bears a Type CM 21 "Passed by Censor Bermuda" numeral (3). The cover has a cancellation clearly reading November 12, 1939 (Hamilton, Bermuda), and it is franked with one 1/- Bermuda stamp. It alsohas an advertising cancellation reading "Bermuda Aquarium - One of the World's Finest."
The exhibition pane describes the cover quite well: "1s KGVI Pictorial, Grape Bay, Paget Parish [SG 115] stamp on cover with machine cancelled [MH6] Hamilton in black, with CM21 Censor #3 in green. Envelope measures 150 by 74 mm, with top flap."
The cover is in very sound condition. It is a Very Fine piece ready to enhance any collection of U.S., Bermuda, or WWII-era censored postal history.
